How are small, local businesses supposed to compete against bix boxes, chains and online retailers these days? Our team analyzed the problem space and decided that their only hope is to leverage their greatest asset - the ability to make meaningful personal connections with their customers.

We embarked on a rigorous program of crunching numbers, brainstorming business models and researching small retailers before ultimately creating Boon, a mobile loyalty program tailored to the needs of local store owners and their customers.

As our professor loved to ask, "Where's the value in your service?!" Well, here it is, Mr. Zimmerman. Central to the project was the fact that we're not only designing a compelling user experience, but one that will actually generate revenue.

Not only did our service have to be usable to the business owner and the customer, (as well as making a tidy profit) but it had to be technologically feasible. Trust us, we thought this through.

"Pleasurization," not "Gamification."

The design of Boon! creates an inviting, game-like environment. This is an app that's a joy to pull out at the register, not a burden.
